2nd Interview with Ms. Radita
-
In your opinion, what is fake news? Fake news is news that you hear from outside and news that you find here and there, and it will spread if you don’t cross-check it. It is also a bad form of media because it is only for the sake of money, status, etc.
-
Have you ever exposed someone for writing fake news? Not really, because we never actually got the chance to expose someone for writing fake news, and we wouldn’t expose them right away unless we have researched first, and we probably would’ve asked the producer behind us to cross-check it for us.
-
What are some sites you find trustworthy? I think CNN is pretty trustworthy. I also believe in the government website, but we don’t usually check the sites, because our producer usually does it.
-
What do you think is the biggest impact of fake news? Hatred, because we are already consuming the news here and there, and if people consume fake news, they won’t trust the news industry and the media and people will think that something is fake news, and they won’t trust that media anymore, and it can cause the business to lose money, sponsorship, etc.
-
What is the best way to avoid fake news? If it comes from a site, research is actually the best way to find a way whether we resent the news or not, because us as announcers need to present the news with our own point of view, but before that, we need to research first to see if this is a sensitive issue or not.
-
What are the positive effects of fake news? If there is fake news outside and people want to research it, like for example, Someone won a million dollars, it is not bad or good news, it’s just news we consume just like that, and it could make someone jealous or something but if people dig deep through that and find out it is illegal. Fake news just makes people read, and people want to read, and it can also improve research skills and higher literacy.
-
If you find fake news, do you report it or ignore it? I would probably check it myself first if I have the sources, but I would probably ignore it if it’s not related to me. I’m a very skeptical person, so I don’t really believe anything that I read, and I won’t report it if I don’t have evidence, but I won’t really believe it until I have good evidence.
-
If fake news ever disrupted your career what would you do? If that happens, I will report it, but I would check it first, because we should know if we did something wrong first causing people to make fake news. I would also sue the person or media who wrote it.
-
What is the best way to tell if something is fake news? I’ll probably find evidence first, but I would never really believe it, but it depends on my literacy, evidence and curiosity.
-
How long do you think the spread of fake news could last? I think it could spread for a few weeks or a decade depending on what type of fake news it is.
-
How does fake news change people’s opinions? It depends on what they want to believe, but it depends on if we agree on different things, and it would probably cause an argument. It could affect people who are sensitive pretty badly.
-
Do you think all fake news is bad? Not all fake news is bad, but when you are actually getting to the real side of the story, not all fake news is bad. I think most fake news is bad though.
-
What is the difference between fake news and misinformation? When fake news is actually spreading, you don’t have another article to prove that fake news is wrong. Misinformation is when you actually have a source of evidence that the fake news is actually misinformation and not on purpose.
-
Do believe that fake news could be an accident? I think fake news is never an accident and that it is all setup.
-
Do you think the media is promoting the spread of fake news? I think not all media though, but if a form of media is used to spread fake news, it could probably help fake news spread. For me, fake news is spreading through a lot of media platforms, and it could help the fake news or the media. It could also be a cure for fake news.
-
How do you find evidence for fake news? Sometimes I don’t really believe fake news, but if it is an article, it might be easier to find evidence.
-
Why do you think people make fake news? Mostly for money, because fake news is very believable. When people spread fake news, they are making more money because people share it.
